Journey of the Preacher

Growth in preaching involves curiosity, openness to the Holy Spirit, synthesis of imagination and reason, and power and authority to proclaim the Word of God. The ACTS (Association of Chicago Theological Schools) Doctor of Ministry in Preaching Program is designed to honor these dynamics and to help you become the preacher God is calling you to be in the context of your ministry.

Your education extends beyond the classroom into your ministry context, focusing concretely on your unique learning goals and the needs of the people you serve. You will collaborate with members of your ministry to develop competence in the area of ministry that congregations have rated as one of the most important pastoral responsibilities. Explore your call to proclaim God's Word. Learn how this program can be a part of your journey as a preacher.

What people are saying about our program ...

One of the great gifts of the ACTS Preaching program is that faculty, staff and students recognize and honor the very diverse gifts that the participants bring to the program but at the same time everyone is challenged to move beyond her comfort zone and find new gifts and possibilities. I've seen real change and growth in the students--and in myself.
- Dr. David Bartlett, Yale Divinity School
